After the project

When you have completed a research project, you need to publish and communicate your output, as well as archive your research data.

Scientific publication

Scientific publications and doctoral theses linked to the university must be entered into DiVA (the Academic Archive Online), which is Umeå University's publication database. Researchers at Umeå University are also recommended to make their results openly accessible online to the extent possible.

Scientific publication

The University Library offers guidance and training on scientific publication. The services are available to researchers and staff at Umeå University as well as healthcare staff at Region Västerbotten.

Communicating research

Giving visibility to university research is an important part of showing what the university is and what we do. Communicating research adds an important dimension to public debate and provides an insight into how tax revenue is used. Successful research findings that reach the public eye also helps recruit students and staff to Umeå University. It can also influence companies and other stakeholders in society to choose Umeå University as their collaborative partner.

Archiving of research data

Most types of research data must be archived. The university's data management plan used when conducting research shows what type of material must be preserved and how. Each department is responsible for archiving their research material, so contact your department's archiving coordinator and registry officer for questions regarding archiving and registration.

Open Research Europe

The EU's new open access publishing platform, Open Research Europe, promises simple, fast and free publication of scientific articles.

Different article types from all fields of science are welcome. The requirements are that research submitted must be original and not published elsewhere. In addition, it must be funded by a Horizon 2020 or Horizon Europe project, in which at least one of the authors is involved.
