Permanent residence permit

A permanent residence permit in Sweden grants the right to reside and work in the country indefinitely. This permit remains valid as long as you are a resident in Sweden. However, it can be revoked if you spend extended periods abroad. To apply for a permanent residence permit, you must meet specific requirements.

To be granted a permanent residence permit, the applicant must:

Have resided in Sweden with a residence permit for doctoral studies and/or work permits as an employee for a total of four years within the past seven years.
Intend to live in Sweden.
Be able to support oneself through employment or self-employment.
Lead an orderly life.
