More work from home after the holidays

22 December 2021

The latest national COVID-19 measures that come into effect on 23 December will not affect Umeå University's teaching and research on the University premises However, employees with work tasks that do not require physical presence will have to work from home until 31 January, in order to reduce crowding on campus.

When it comes to teaching and examination, no new limitations to the number of participants have been set. Students and employees who visit the University premises are urged to maintain distance before and after lectures, in shared spaces and workplaces. In certain cases, teaching may be held online to some extent so that crowding can be avoided.

All Swedish authorities, Umeå University being one, have been assigned to take further actions to ensure that that all members of staff whose presence is non-essential in conducting the operations are not to be present in the authority's premises. At Umeå University, each manager will decide which tasks must be conducted at the workplace and which tasks can be carried out from home.

Meetings, events and gatherings must be held digitally, or postponed.

Further extentions to the government assignment beyond 31 January may follow. Umeå University monitors this issue continuously. In case of an extention to the government assignment, employees will receive information about the University’s decision promptly.

When visiting the workplace or campus, these quidelines still apply:

  • Maintain distance to others and avoid crowding
  • Unvaccinated people must take extra responsibility to maintain distance to others.
  • Stay at home and get tested for COVID-19 if you have symptoms of disease – even mild symptoms.

The university-wide collaboration event Kunskapsnoden, part of the annual Västerbotten Weeks in Stockholm in January, will be held as a digital event. The Annual Celebration that was scheduled to take place on 5 February 22 has been postponed.
