The Swedish Government plans to remove more COVID restrictions

After 29 September, Sweden is entering what is called Stage 4 in the Government's plan to abolish COVID restrictions. This includes the following

• The limit in number of participants at public gatherings and events is removed.
• The limit in number of participants at private gatherings, in rented premises, for instance, is removed.
• Remaining restrictions for pubs, restaurants and cafés, regarding group sizes and distances between groups, for instance, are removed.
• The Public Health Agency of Sweden's recommendations on working from home are removed and a gradual return to the workplace can be initiated. A person who has symptoms should still remain at home and get tested, and employers should simplify for staff to work from home in those cases.

At Umeå University, the University Management has begun the process of adapting the university's COVID-related decision based on the new situation. New information will be announced at the end of next week. Current regulations apply until further notice.

"Finally, we see a light at the end of the tunnel. We have all looked forward to the day when Sweden can return to a more normal situation. How this return will take place at Umeå University after the Government's new announcement is something we will have to get back to when we have found a solution that suits us," says Vice-Chancellor Hans Adolfsson.
