Fire Safety Training

All employees of Umeå University are required to complete a basic Fire Safety Training course at least every 5 years. Fire Safety Officers are required to complete a more comprehensive fire safety course.

Basic Fire Safety Training

All employees of Umeå University are required to complete a basic Fire Safety Training course at least every 5 years. You can choose between a digital education and an education held on campus. The cost is charged to the institution.

The training includes:

  • Laws and regulations
  • How do fires start?
  • What are the possible consequences of a fire?
  • What should I do if there is a fire?
  • What can I do to prevent fires from starting?

Online course: The course participant will receive a link that is valid for 30 days during which time, the training can be completed as and when convenient. The course is available in Swedish and English. The course costs SEK 200 per person.

Course on campus: This training is held on campus and also includes a practical extinguishing exercise. The training costs SEK 4500 per session with a maximum limit of 20 people.

Fire Safety Officer Training

Fire Safety Officers are required to complete a Fire Safety Officer Training course every 3 years. The course is paid centrally by Umeå University.

The training includes:

  • Laws and regulations
  • Technical and organisational fire safety measures
  • Fire safety procedures and inspections.

Flammable Materials Manager training

Flammable Materials Manager Training courses are organised as and when required, usually every two years. The Flammable Materials Manager Training is the responsibility of the Environmental Coordinator at the Property Management Office.
