Supervision

Every doctoral student must have at least two supervisors, one of whom is the principal supervisor.

Those admitted after 1 January 2014 will also have access to a reference group. This includes at least one scientifically qualified university teacher without any connection to the doctoral student's research project.

According to the Higher Education Ordinance, a doctoral student is entitled to change supervisor on request.

The doctoral student has the right to supervision provided that the Vice-Chancellor does not decide to withdraw supervision and other resources. Reasons for withdrawal may include the failure of the doctoral student to follow their individual study plan.

Questions regarding supervision are primarily asked to the head of the department. The doctoral student coordinator at the Planning Office  answers questions regarding supervision, but also other general questions about postgraduate education.
