Contact persons at departments or for specific programmes

All students with a disability must have a contact person, regardless of whether they are enrolled in a programme or a freestanding course. Programme students will sometimes need to talk to both their programme’s contact person and the contact person of the department they are studying at.

Being a contact person means you...

  • sit down with the student and explore the support they were recommended by the pedagogical support coordinator for students with a disability;
  • tell the student what they need to do and whom they need to contact to access support;
  • contact the Property Management Office if the University's premises need to be adjusted for the student, so they can look into the matter; and
  • inform the student of their options and the conditions that need to be fulfilled to get support if they plan on studying abroad.

You can find more information about your responsibilities as a contact person in the document Procedures – support for students with disabilities (see the section Important rules and regulations).

Also, at the page Support measures you can find step by step-lists of who is involved in making sure the student gets access to support.

Contact persons for students with a disability

New to your role?

If you want to develop professionally as a contact person, why not network and cooperate with the University's other contact persons and the Student Services Office's disability coordinators?

  • Join Contact persons for students with a disability on Teams. This team is a useful forum to exchange experiences with other contact persons, ask them for advice and share your own best practices. The language commonly used is Swedish. However, you are more than welcome to join. Please let us know if you need us to communicate in English as well.
  • Sign up to attend the meetup arranged for all contact persons once every semester (keep an eye on the page Support for education or on Teams). The language commonly used is Swedish. However, let us know if you want to join in case we can switch to English, and we will certainly consider it.

Feel free to contact the Student Services Office's disability coordinators if you need support or more information.

Contact Karina Arvidsson at the Student Services Office if you have any questions about your role as a contact person.
