Video for learning

    The use of videos in courses is increasing. You can produce your own videos or share videos from others. Umu Play is the media service at Umeå university focusing on web-based production, storage and distribution of video.

    If you are curious about working with video there are many opportunities to do so. For example you can record from your own computer or book a service and a studio where an ICT instructor guides you through the process.

    Umu Play in the learning platform

    Umu Play is integrated in Canvas at Umeå university. This means that you can use Umu Play in the learning platform. When you are logged in you have a menu alternative called "My media" where all your recordings in Umu Play can be found. You can easily publish your videos to a course room.

    Umu Play portal

    Umu Play is a media portal and a recording tool where you can record, store and share video and sound. The technical platform is called Kaltura. You can easily embed a video from Umu Play in a learning platform or anywhere else on the webb. If you want to use video in Canvas we recommend that you use the integration.

    Training and Support

    Do you need support? UPL offers daily support via Servicedesk for Canvas, Zoom, Umu Play, Ouriginal (Urkund) and Mentimeter.

    We also offer drop in Tuesdays to Fridays in Zoom, a user forum in Teams and workshops for our e-learning systems.
