Find funding

You can find current funding calls through systems gathering various calls, or from each contributor.

A good way to start your application journey is to familiarize yourself with systems that gather different calls under the same roof. To aid you in your search for research funding, we have listed some of the most common ones.

Grants.gov

Grants.gov is a portal website that allows organizations to search and apply for American federal funding opportunities. It currently handles the grant application submissions for most federal agencies, including the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, and many others.

Please note that you must read the description of individual calls to find out if they are open to international applicants. If you need assistance in interpreting the call texts, we at the Research Support Office will be happy to help you.

Prisma

Prisma is a joint application and case management system for Formas, Forte, Karolinska Institutet, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, the Swedish Institute for Educational Research, the Swedish National Space Agency, and the Swedish Research Council.

By using Prisma, you as a researcher can manage your applications to all of these funding bodies via one single account. It is also via Prisma that you administer awarded grants from the said funders as a financial administrator.

Prisma is responsible for all technical support. At their website, you can also find information on, e.g., how to create a user account, how to register an application, and how to use the review features in your role as a reviewer.

For support and guidelines, go to the Prisma user manual.

  • Off campus: You must log in to access the database. You can create a personal account either with your Umu ID or with the help of a username and password.
  • Support: There are online courses and information on the database home page. Research Professional also organizes free webinars that can be tailored for a specific group.

EU search tools

The Funding & Tenders Portal is a database, where most calls from the EU are gathered. In addition to applying for research funding and reading descriptions of individual calls, you can download information and templates before applying.

The site eufonder.se is a guide for those of you who want to know more about the programs of the European Structural and Investment Funds affecting Sweden, and in which programs Swedish organizations, governments and companies can participate.
