Risk assessment when returning to the workplace

13 October 2021

When returning to the workplace, managers are urged to investigate what risks exist at the workplace in question, take potential measures and follow up how the return to the workplace is going together with your employees. Updated information aimed at managers is available on Aurora. Also, the regulation regarding staff in at-risk groups and protective equipment has expired.

Regulation has expired

From 1 October 2021, several temporary rules and reimbursements that the Swedish Government introduced during the pandemic have been removed, for instance compensation for the qualifying period during sick leave. The Vice-Chancellor has hence decided that the Regulation for staff in at-risk groups and the use of protective equipment due to COVID-19 (FS 1.1-1461-20) is invalid from 12 October 2021.

The information from the regulation that is still valid can instead be found on Aurora under the links provided further down.

Umeå University's recommendation that face masks can be used in situations where you cannot maintain distance is still valid until otherwise stated.

Your responsibility for risk assessment

When returning to the workplace, managers are urged to investigate what risks exist at your workplace. When risks are identified, a plan of action must be drafted containing measures for a safe and gradual return to the workplace. Managers are also urged to follow up how the return to the workplace is going together with the employees.
