Four researchers receive money for mid-range equipment

24 March 2023

The Faculty Board has decided to grant a total amount of 5.5 million SEK to four applicants of mid-range equipment. Among others, Nils Skoglund receives 2.2 million SEK for a new X-ray scattering facility.

Starting this year, calls for mid-range equipment are only announced once a year. 12 applications were received for this call. The Faculty Board chose to distribute the money as follows:

  • Nils Skoglund, Department of Applied Physics and Electronics, receives 2 200 000 SEK to a multi-purpose adaptive platform for X-ray scattering (MAXS).
  • Gerhard Gröbner, Department of Chemistry, receives 1 250 000 SEK to a 850 MHz NMR Parallel Steering Unit.
  • Jerker Fick, Department of Chemistry, receives 900 000 SEK to a mass spectrometer for trace element analysis.
  • Nicolò Maccaferri, Department of Physics, receives 700 000 SEK to an electron beam lithography (EBL) system.

Mid-range equipment is defined as equipment with a purchase price normally in the range of 250,000 to 4,000,000 SEK. Equipment purchased through this program will be placed at the disposal of other researchers at the Faculty of Science and Technology, as far as availability allows and upon request.

The decision was made at the faculty board meeting on March 16.
