Call for Project Funding in Cancer Research from the Sjöberg Foundation - Nomination of Research Proposals from the Faculty of Medicine.

In 2017, the Sjöberg Foundation approved six project grants of in total 36 million SEK and in 2018 eleven project grants of in total 50,2 million SEK. For 2019, the Sjöberg Foundation has again decided to support cancer research projects of high quality. The Medical Faculties have been asked to nominate projects. The project proposals that the Sjöberg Foundation consider to best fit the call will be offered to submit a full research proposal. A scientific committee will review the applications.

This year, the Faculty of Medicine, can nominate up to five project proposals in each category of

  1. Research in pancreas cancer, cancer in liver and bile ducts, ovarian cancer and malignant brain tumors.
  2. Research in health care science and complementary and integrative medicine for cancer patients.

According to the donator, methods in unconventional treatment methods during cancer treatment are welcome.

The last day to submit a project proposal to the Faculty of Medicine is the March, 15. After a review process, the selected project proposals will be sent to the Sjöberg foundation April, 1.

Researchers that are invited to send in a full application will be notified in early June and last day for the full applications is September, 10.

You are all welcome to submit a project proposal to the Faculty of Medicine. The proposal should include:
1) Project description (maximum two pages, Times New Roman, font size 12)
• Title of the project
• Researchers participating in the project, including position and department
• Purpose describe shortly the purpose of the project and the specific aims
• Backgrund. A summary of previous but updated research results within the area (State-of-the-art) and the significance in short and long perspectives. Clarify how the project advance the frontiers of the research field and to what extent the project investigates new research areas or new questions (Scientific novelty).
• Project description. Include theory, methods and materials and a time schedule for accomplishment of the project.
• Budget. Include if additional funding for the research proposal
• Expected time when the results of the proposal are applicable and the expected effects in health care.

2) Short CV (maximum 1 page) Include if you have received local and national external grants

3) List of publications. List of ten of your papers that best support the research proposal. Include citations and Impact Factor (IF). Include the article is published recently and that year's journal has not got an IF, then use IF of year 2017.

In the publication list, mark your name in bold.

A review-panel will review the proposals and select the research proposals that fit the call best to be nominated to the Sjöberg Foundation.
