Development funds for collaboration on societal challenges

29 May 2020

The Research Support and Collaboration Office is now announcing development funds with the aim of stimulating collaboration projects between Umeå University researchers and the university's strategic partners. The projects should address a societal challenge linked to COVID-19 and the UN's sustainable development goals. Deadline is June 15th.

Major challenges require new knowledge and collaboration between different stakeholders. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for trans-sectoral collaboration has become even more apparent and urgent. The current call provides an opportunity to test a collaborative concept through, for example, a pilot study.

This particular call relates to projects that:

  • take on a societal challenge, linked to COVID-19 and one or several of the global sustainable development goals within Agenda 2030.
  • aim at, and form the basis for, a research application for another, larger financial call within one year.

The main applicant must be a teacher or a researcher at Umeå University, who in turn must collaborate with at least one of the university's strategic partners; Umeå Municipality, Region Västerbotten, Volvo Trucks and Örnsköldsvik Municipality. The maximum amount to apply for is SEK 85,000 (including overhead costs), and it only covers the main applicant's costs.

Do you wish to apply?

Fill in the application form together with your partner. Sign, scan, and e-mail no later than June 15, 2020, to: martin.englund@umu.se

Notice is usually given two weeks after the deadline.
