Applications for grants for internationalisation

The committee for Strategic Internationalisation at the Faculty of Medicine announces internationalisation grants. The call HT20 is open until October 18 and Grants for developing courses /modules in English can still be applied for (track IV). Remaining parts of the call have been closed due to a decision by the Committee for Strategic Internationalisation.

The call for internationalisation grants HT20 is open until October 18 (FS 2.1.6-1099-20) and Grants for developing courses /modules in English can still be applied for (track IV). Remaining parts of the call (tracks I-III and V) have been closed due to a decision by the Committee for Strategic Internationalisation (IKOM).

I. Grant for an international stay during doctoral studies
This grant is for an academic visit (≥3 weeks) at a university abroad during doctoral studies. The application should specify how the international research milieu at the host university benefits the dissertation and also have potential for a future post-doc. Supervisor's support is obligatory and co-financing from external sources is meritorious. Maximum of 25 000 SEK will be awarded.

II. Grant for an international stay preparing for a post-doc
This grant is for an academic visit at a university abroad in order to prepare for a post-doc application. The application should include a short summary and motivation for the choice of the University. Application for this grant can be made during the last year of doctoral studies (Supervisor's support is obligatory) or within two years of dissertation. Co-financing from external sources is meritorious. Maximum of 15 000 SEK will be awarded.

III. Grant for mobility during post-doc
This grant is for a research visit (≥3 weeks) at a university abroad, within three years of dissertation. The application should include a short summary and motivation for the choice of the University. Co-financing from external sources is meritorious. Maximum of 25 000 SEK will be awarded.

IV. Grant for developing of courses/modules in English
This grant is for developing courses/modules in English within the faculties study programmes; comprising of internal development and/or in cooperation with an international institution. Co-financing from the respective Program Council is meritorious. Maximum of 60 000 SEK will be awarded.

V. Grant for establishing student and staff mobility
This grant is for activities that enable student and staff mobility with international institutions, for the faculty's undergraduate and graduate level study programmes. Co-financing from the respective Program Council is meritorious. Maximum of 25 000 SEK will be awarded.

Instructions for application and reporting

Eligible to apply are doctoral students (I-II) and/or staff at the Faulty of Medicine or active employees of County Councils of the northern regions (I-V) with active employment during application and during utilization. Applicants are limited to ONE application per person and call (I-V).

Application should be sent to medel@diarie.umu.se. Provide Call's register number (FS 2.1.6-1099-20) in subject.

Application should be in English, of maximum one A4 page (Georgia font 10) and include a one page C as well as a Letter of intent from the international academy in question. Mention the Call register number, which one of the grants applied to (I-V), applicant name and personnummer, department, email and mobile, time/date of dissertation (I-III), intended international university and the contact person (not required for IV). Describe planned activities, expected outcomes and benefits for the applicant and the University. Provide a budget related to the activities, including any co-financing (mention name and amount of the sponsor). Mention who has approved the application: Supervisor (I & II), Head of Department (II-III) or Chair of Program Council (IV-V).

Instruction for a one-page CV: Academic degree: Year, subject, and university. Doctoral degree: year, subject, university, doctoral thesis title and the supervisor. Post-doc stays: year and placement. Current employment: duration and share of research in employment. Previous employments: type of employment and duration. Interruptions in research, Supervision: doctoral students and post-docs that received supervision.

Report in English, of a maximum one A4 page (Georgia font 10), including an accounting of finances is to be submitted to IKOM within 1 month of conclusion of the activity, but no later than 2022-06-30. Applicants that are approved the grant are expected to share their experiences within the faculty.
