Apply for travel grants for SASUF research and innovation week in South Africa

24 November 2022

The university is now announcing a limited number of places and travel grants for researchers' participation in SASUF's upcoming research and innovation week in South Africa 27–31 March 2023.

Umeå University invites researchers to apply for travel grants to participate in SASUF Research and Innovation week in South Africa, 27-31 March 2023.

Researchers at all levels are welcome to apply, from PhD student to professor. Anyone who wants to participate needs to produce a proposal for a contribution to the program. It could be a seminar or a workshop with partners in South Africa, or a contribution to the poster exhibition. The content must contribute to one of the UN's 17 global sustainability goals.

The research and innovation week's program will include satellite events in various locations around South Africa, scientific workshops and poster sessions during the Sustainability Forum in Cape Town. Participants can present their research, take part in successful examples of collaborative projects and discuss and design project ideas.

Registration and travel allowance

Selected researchers can receive up to SEK 28,000 (including overheads) as a travel grant for participation in the week. The selection will be based on a number of criteria, including the applicants' contribution to Research and Innovation week and the ambitions for collaboration with partners in South Africa. Balance between thematic areas, seniority and gender will be considered in the selection process.
It is also possible to register an interest in participating in Research and Innovation week with own funding (in full or in part).

The people who are part of the delegation from Umeå University are expected to participate throughout the whole week. Study visits or other relevant activities in South Africa in connection with the week are encouraged.
