Lunch seminars

UPL offers lunch seminars about teaching and learning in higher education and e-learning.

Designing education for a challenging future -
October 20th at 12-13

Climate crisis, impoverishment of biodiversity, threats to democracy are some of the challenges our students will have to deal with in their lives; in many cases professionally, at least as a citizen. How can higher education promote the development of the skills needed to navigate such issues that are often characterized by many and conflicting perspectives, goal conflicts, dimensions of uncertainty and are also impregnated with emotions and values. How can this be done with scientific integrity intact? And how can this happen in subjects where sustainability is not an obvious content without pushing out other important perspectives?
Before the seminar, listen to the podcast Klimatgap, section 28 (click on the link), and we will use the time to discuss what the presented perspectives mean to us in our own environments.
Maria Wolrath Söderberg is a PhD in rhetoric, director of Södertörn University's pedagogical development unit and researches how people reason in goal conflicts and especially climate issues.
