Lunch seminars

UPL offers lunch seminars about teaching and learning in higher education and e-learning.

Portfolio in Canvas, What, How, Why - November 17th at 12-13

Portfolio as an educational tool can be useful in many ways. It can be a method where students actively work to make their learning process visible. Students can process a course content by collecting, selecting, reflecting and presenting in a systematic way. But it can also be a way for a teacher to make his pedagogical skills visible by creating a pedagogical portfolio.

We have now gained access to Canvas as a learning platform and the question is whether Canvas can be a good tool to use if you want to work with a portfolio in some form.

The seminar will begin with a short description of the portfolio as a pedagogical starting point. Then we will together explore the possibilities in Canvas by looking at what a concrete portfolio layout could look like.

Course evaluation and course development on a scientific basis at Umu - December 15th at 12-13

During the seminar, Dan will talk about a process for working with course evaluation and course development on a scientific basis. The process is based on a new evidence-based instrument for course evaluation called the Learning Experience Questionnaire (LEQ). With help from the instrument, teachers can analyze their course from a learning perspective, and based on that work both individually and collegially with course development that promotes learning. The instrument will be able to be used by all teachers at Umu via course evaluation in Canvas.
