The network serves as a platform for sharing thoughts and ideas about higher education pedagogy but it also has an important part to play regarding mentorship and the strategic task of making qualified and excellent teachers visible.
Umeå University's educational qualification model
In 2014, the Vice-Chancellor at Umeå University established a model for educational qualification. The aim is to "contribute to a continual improvement in the quality of education by encouraging teachers to develop a high degree of pedagogical expertise and encouraging departments to create good conditions for pedagogical development."

The theme is Pedagogical merit models in Sweden. Umeå University is not alone in the country with its pedagogical merit model. In fact, this phenomenon exists at most of Sweden's larger universities and is also beginning to emerge in our northern neighbours. In this seminar, preliminary results from a very recent survey are presented where similarities and differences between the higher education institutions are described, as well as what effects and challenges the pedagogical merit models appear to have generated.

The theme of this seminar was Integration of research and education. The initiator was Linus Andersson, Psychology, who shared ideas and concrete initiatives to let students and teachers / researchers work together on research and knowledge-creating projects during their studies.

The theme is Case teaching with type cases. The initiator is Patrik Wennberg, Public Health and Clinical Medicine, General Medicine, who talks about the work of developing "general medical type cases" which consist of a dozen fictional people from 1-93 years. These people are meant to return to teaching with slightly different health-related problems at the same time as they age and develop over time.

A seminar on Grants for Teaching Sabbatical och Teaching Sabbatical - two scholarship programmes by STINT (Stiftelsen för internationalisering av högre utbildning).
