As a teacher you can also apply for staff exchange.
A teacher exchange takes place through one of the Erasmus agreements that the university has. You can go on an exchange through the agreements that your department has, and through the agreements that other departments at Umeå University have. If you want to go on an exchange through another department's agreement, please contact the department to obtain its consent.
Our Erasmus agreements can be found in the agreements database Solemove. Some agreements apply only to student exchanges, however. If you want to go on an exchange through a student exchange agreement, the international contact person at your department can contact the partner university and ask them to extend the agreement to include teacher exchanges.
Exchanges that lead to new learning materials, stronger contacts between Umeå University and the partner university or which prepare the ground for future collaborative projects are given priority when the International Office makes its decision on scholarship payments.
The countries participating in the Erasmus programme are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Turkey.
Scholarship for teacher exchanges under Erasmus
You can apply for a scholarship for your teacher exchange under Erasmus. The scholarship is paid afterwards, once the exchange has been completed. The scholarship will cover some of the expenses associated with the exchange, such as travel costs and increased living costs. The scholarship is not intended to cover all additional expenses.
Teacher exchange as pedagogical qualification
A teacher exchange can be a valuable pedagogical qualification from an international context. You are encouraged to take with you queries that you wish to investigate or learn more about during your exchange. If these are documented in an extended teacher report the report can be included in your teaching portfolio.
