Apply for pedagogical qualification

    Umeå University's model for pedagogical qualification was introduced in 2013. Since then, 98 people have been appointed qualified and excellent teachers. In 2016, the model was evaluated and revised. New is that the application is open all year and that qualification takes place in a two-step process. Only teachers who have previously been appointed as a qualified teacher can apply for excellent teacher.

    In June 2016, the then Vice-Chancellor Lena Gustafsson decided on a new Code of rules and procedures for Umeå University and during the autumn, the criteria and procedure for applicants and experts have been adjusted by a working team consisting of excellent teachers and representatives of the Pedagogical qualification board.

    "The criteria have been made clearer, for instance by reducing the overlap between the levels. We have also complemented the criteria with indicators regarding the teacher's subject and professional experience and future plans for the pedagogical work," says Anders Fällström.

    The new model renders no premium to the department, but an appointment renders a salary increase for the applicant.

    The Pedagogical qualification board meets four times per year during which submitted applications will be assessed. Deadlines for applications during 2017 are 28 February, 31 May, 31 August and 30 November.
