New version of the University web site to take shape in the upcoming year

16 November 2017

In the fall of 2018, a new and thoroughly reworked version of the Umeå University external web site will be released. A change that to some extent will affect the University as a whole.

The current version of the Umeå University external web site was launched nine years ago. Since then, the Internet has been evolving massively, both from a technological and social perspective.

Now, the work has begun to create a completely new external web site. InfoGlue, the currently used Content Management System, will be replaced by EPiServer – a system that has already been implemented for some parts of the web site such as the online programme and course catalog for prospective students, https://www.umu.se/en/education.

The re-development of the external web site also marks the fulfilment of a long-running aim to separate the University's external audiences for digital communication from the internal audiences: employees and current students.

A team within the Communications Office is responsible for developing new structures and solutions for the presentation of web content at the department/unit level. Plans for the migration of legacy content to the new external web site are underway.

Basic information about the work in progress and a collection of frequently asked questions is available in Aurora: New web site 2018 under Service and support > Communication.
