Minute of silence for victims of Stockholm attack

Umeå University invites everyone to partake in a national minute of silence on Monday 10 April at 12:00 at Infocenter, Universum, to commemorate the victims of the terrorist attack in Stockholm on Friday and show support for their family and friends.

Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven has given notice of a national minute of silence on Monday 10 April at 12:00. Umeå University will participate together with other universities and Vice-Chancellor Hans Adolfsson encourages all university students and members of staff to give a thought to those subjected to this crime. A joint minute of silence will be held at Infocenter in Universum for those who want to gather in commemoration.

"It grieved me immensely when I heard news of the terrorist attack in Stockholm. By participating in this minute of silence, we at Umeå University take part in a national gathering to show our deepest sympathy with the victims' family and friends. This is also a time to stand up against violence and terrorism," says Hans Adolfsson.

This morning, Umeå University have raised the Swedish flag at half mast next to the University pond. After the minute of silence at 12:00–12:01, the flags will be fully raised.
