Teacher representatives in the University Board

The University Election Committee has appointed five teacher representatives to the University Board – three members and two group substitutes – for the period of 1 January 2019 until 31 December 2021.

Beatrice Melin, Department of Radiation Sciences, is professor of oncology specialising in molecular epidemiology. She studies brain tumours, colon cancer, haematology, biomarkers and hereditary cancer. New member of the Board.

Marie Wiberg, Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics, is professor of statistics focusing on psychometrics – the theory and technique of psychological measurement. She studies statistical methods of analysing and evaluating proficiency tests. In an interdisciplinary collaboration, she is analysing pupils' results of standardised proficiency tests. Re-elected member.

Mats G. Larson, Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, is professor of applied mathematics. He studies numerical methods for solving partial differential equations with application primarily in fluid and solid mechanics. His research area is interdisciplinary and is based on a combination of mathematics, computer science and various scopes of application. New member of the Board.

Christer Nordlund, Department of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies, is professor of history of ideas specialising on the history of science and environmental science. Re-elected member.

Thomas Brännström, Department of Medical Biosciences, is professor of pathology. He has 25 years of experience of researching the causes behind the motor neuron disease ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. New member of the Board.
