Working to build common basic values

19 April 2018

The Vice-Chancellor has now decided that the work on common basic values that started in spring 2017 should continue. Umeå University should now produce an institution-wide adaptation of the state sector's basic values, adjusted to suit our reality and academic context.

The idea of formulating common basic values was introduced at a meeting for managers on 21 April 2017 and continued during autumn 2017 with discussions about the state sector's basic values at departments and offices.

The material that was submitted is now being processed and this work will continue during 2018. The Vice-Chancellor has assigned the Office for Human Resources to continue leading the work through a steering group. The work will be presented for approval from the organisation in various ways.

The objective for early 2019 is to have:

  • formulated an institution-wide adaptation of the state sector's common basic values
  • communicated the common basic values to all employees
  • developed working material to be used when departments and offices work with the common basic values.

The Vice-Chancellor reached his decisions about the project on 17 April 2018.
