On 16 August, the umu.se startpage is getting a whole new looks. Also, new versions of the menu items About Umeå University, Contact us and Research, and a new calendar of events will be launched.

"The homepage has gone through a complete makeover according to the new visual identity and with a more modern design. And the structure of the website has also been revised. Beside a better mobile responsiveness, the new layout also provides more space for images, and better solutions for presenting visual elements such as videos. It'll also be much more accessible," says Head of Communications Gunilla Stendahl.
The new university web is designed to best satisfy the needs of our external visitors. This means that the structure of contents is designed after the needs of students, collaborative partners, researchers at other universities, the general public and the media.

"The framework is in place, and you can now get a glimpse of the end results. Although, work still remains in moving all relevant content from the web pages of our faculties, departments and units," says Gunilla Stendahl. "A web site can never be finalised. The contents will be continuously improved even when the structure is in place."
The new web also leads to exchanging Infoglue for Episerver, and to the need to train appointed editors in the new content management system. The training will take place gradually this autumn. The web site will also get a new search engine.
New menu and calendar of events
A further improvement of the new web is that the black bar at the top of the page will be replaced by a flyout menu (also called hamburger icon). Through this menu, you will from now on find the shortcuts Student, Alumni, Staff and Library previously located in the black top bar. The shortcut to our student pages will also be found permanently in the new header and can be accessed from all pages of the new web.
On 16 August, a new web calendar for the institution-wide activities and events has been launched. Departments and units will move their calendars in conjunction with the migration of their respective web pages.
