New programme leader for the ReaL- Research & Leadership Programme appointed

Professor Britta Lundgren has been appointed as new programme leader for the ReaL-programme och and replaces professor emeritus Petter Gustafsson in this function. Britta Lundgren and development consultant Matts Björklund, Office of Human Resources, will together lead the programme during the coming five-year period.

Britta Lundgren is professor of Ethnology at the Department of Culture and Media Studies. She has substantial experiences of different forms of academic leadership, and has been responsible for the building up of the interdisciplinary National Graduate School of Gender Studies (Genusforskarskolan) and was the Dean of the Faculty of Arts for six years. She has also been the leader of a number of large interdisciplinary projects. In 2016, she was awarded the Umeå University Medal of Honour and is at present member of the board of the Swedish Research Council. She is also vice preses of the Kungl. Skytteanska Samfundet.

The objective of the ReaL-programme is to act as competence support for researchers at different stages of their careers, which includes a) learning and developing skills regarding leadership, especially focusing on research leadership b) supporting the development of successful research environments, both existing and future environments and c) supporting individual career development and continuing academic growth.

The ReaL-programme consists of three steps for researchers at Umeå University, adapted to the career paths available in the new employment scheme.

Step 1 – Researchers in an early stage of the research career

In the beginning of 2019 a new round of The ReaL-program, step 1, will start for researchers at Umeå University who are in an early stage of the Research Career.

Invitation to apply will be announced during the autumn of 2018.
