Video lectures and/or podcasts

17 March 2020

Humlab can help you create video lectures/podcasts for your students. You can do this from your home, from your office, or from Humlab. You can record your video lecture from your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or our computers at Humlab.

Using UmU play and other software, you can get your video lecture or podcast up and running within a few days.

You have the following choices:

Online seminars or lecture (in real time)

Umeå University uses ZOOM for real time lectures or seminars. The capacity for same time users has been massively increased recently to cope with the overload. Try a demo meeting with the ICT staff at Humlab. We can help in the following ways:

  • Get you up and running to be able to use Zoom to have online seminars with your students where you can see and hear them in real time. See this example here
  • Use Zoom to lecture in real time. You can share your computer screen and present your powerpoint or other program
  • Learn to use Zoom yourself or use our facilities at Humlab to have your lecture or seminar online.
  • Provide you with instructions to give to your students for a successful seminar(lecture

Other tools for online collaboration with text, audio and video

We have other online tools used at tutors at Humfak. These tools allow students to video/audio record themselves and to provide feedback to each other. We have licenses and can get more user licenses for tolls such as: Padlet, Voicethread, and others.

It is not possible to go into detail here. They can be presented in an online Zoom seminar in the coming days/weeks. On viewing them you may feel inspired to use them with your students. We can help:

  • Set it up for you in Cambro or Moodle
  • Provide you with instructions to give to your students
