External reviewer appointed to evaluate handling of misconduct

7 December 2021

One of the university's measures to improve prevention and handling of harassment, sexual harassment and bullying is to conduct an external evaluation. On 23 November, the assignment brief was adopted and today, on 7 December, former Director-General Karin Röding was appointed to conduct the evaluation between 1 February and 31 March 2022.

Appointing an external reviewer who is independent in relation to assignments for and interests in Umeå University was one of the key requirements in selecting an external reviewer. This not to affect the impartiality and autonomy of the reviewer.

"Karin Röding has sound experience from academia and the higher education sector and has held a number of leading positions. She also carries integrity and good insight into the issues the evaluation aims to cover. For those reasons, I'm glad that Karin Röding has accepted the assignment and look forward to receiving her report. The report will constitute an important part of the university's work to improve the work to prevent and handle harassment, sexual harassment and bullying," says Vice-Chancellor Hans Adolfsson.

The evaluation will be implemented between 1 February and 31 March 2022. A final report is to be submitted to the Vice-Chancellor no later than on 31 March 2022.
