Summer courses and autumn 2021 due to COVID-19

9 March 2021

The Vice-Chancellor has now decided that the 2021 summer courses should – similar to this spring semester – be replaced with online or other alternative teaching methods. The underlying reason for this decision is an assessment that the ongoing vaccinations will not be completed by the start of the summer semester. The decision is made now to give the organisation a chance to plan their activities.

Summer courses should be carried out online

For the university's 2021 summer courses, the Vice-Chancellor has reached the decision that teaching should take place online or through other adapted formats that do not involve person-to-person meetings or visits to university premises, under the condition that reasonable demands on quality can be satisfied.

Also examinations should take place online or through other adapted formats that do not involve person-to-person meetings or visits to university premises, under the condition that legal certainty can be maintained and that reasonable demands on quality can be satisfied.

In cases where teaching and examination must be carried out on campus to maintain legal certainty and satisfy reasonable quality requirements, the Public Health Agency of Sweden's guidelines must be adhered to. Teaching and examination can be scheduled to evenings if required to prevent the risk of spreading disease, but only with consideration for the ability of students and teaching staff to participate.

The decision is valid from 8 June until 29 August 2021.

A decision regarding the autumn is planned for April

The current situation means that it is difficult to make long-term plans, but the University Management and the Crisis Management Team have started preparing for making a decision regarding the autumn semester 2021 in order to give staff and students the ability to plan. A decision regarding the autumn is planned for April, if the situation allows.
