In connection to this, it was also announced that the Dean reappointed Anna Arnqvist as Associate Dean with special responsibility for research and education at third-cycle levels.

It is now decided that Associate Professor Magnus Hultin, currently Programme Director of the Medical Programme, will be the new Associate Dean with special responsibility for collaboration on clinical education. Magnus is senior consultant physician and associate professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.

"Magnus has done a fantastic job in the management of the Medical Programme for many years and I am very pleased that he has accepted to move on and take a broader responsibility for the Faculty's clinical education", says Dean Patrik Danielson.

In connection with the Vice-Chancellor's appointment of Kristina Lejon as Deputy Dean for the next term of office, the Dean also announced that Kristina, who is currently the Associate Dean of education, will continue to have a main responsibility for education at first and second-cycle levels in the Faculty leadership.

"As Kristina will now also take over as dean's deputy from this summer, in addition to the responsibility for undergraduate education in the leadership, Magnus will be a good support to her and the others in the issues related to the important clinical parts of our educations and, above all, regarding our important collaborations on these issues with Regions and Municipalities", says Patrik Danielson.

The current Deputy Dean Marie Bixo, who declined reappointment for a second term, has been responsible in the leadership for collaboration /regional collaboration issues in both research and education. Magnus Hultin will take over the parts related to education in this "portfolio".

Magnus will also, within the framework of his new assignment, retain management of the Faculty's national assignments in education from the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen), with the Proficiency Test for Physicians with training from outside the EU/EEA (Kunskapsprovet), and with Programme for Physicians with a Medical Degree (KUL).

Form a broader management structure

The baton for the leadership of the Medical Programme, however, will be passed on and the recruitment of the Chair of Programme Council / Programme Manager for the next term of office is underway, led by Kristina Lejon.

"With the launch of the new 6-year Medical Programme this autumn, it will be a natural opportunity to change the leadership of the Programme Council for the Medical Programme," says Kristina Lejon. There are many good forces that are already working for the success and high quality of the Medical Programme, and we are now working to form a broader management structure to ensure a sustainable organization," she continues.

"I look forward with great anticipation and confidence to working with Magnus as associate dean. Magnus has already shown, as Programme Director for the Medical Programme, his dedication towards all students at the Faculty. With his clinical background, he also has a large network of contacts as well as a good insight into the conditions and challenges of operations," concludes Kristina.

Intends to create common goals

Magnus Hultin will take over as Associate Dean on 1 July 2021, when a new term of office begins.

"As Associate Dean, I will have the opportunity to continue to develop clinical education, but now in all faculty's educations. A key issue will be to create common goals, both within the Faculty and together with our most important collaboration partners," says Magnus Hultin.

"This means, unfortunately, that I have to step down from some assignments that are both interesting and rewarding. The baton needs to be passed on so that the Medical Programme continues to develop."

The Dean will return with more information about the other composition and division of responsibilities in the faculty leadership for the next term of office.
