Telephony moves to Teams

    In the spring, Umeå University's telephony will move from Skype to Teams. This change is based on the fact that Microsoft no longer develops Skype and that telephony in Teams now becomes a natural part of our digital workplace - Microsoft 365.

    We are working on implementing Umeå University's collaboration platform "Your digital workplace" in Microsoft 365.

    So far, several security-enhancing measures have been implemented, our email has been migrated to 365 and some systems have been phased out. 

    As part of the work, the telephony at Umeå University has also been reviewed. Since Microsoft is no longer developing Skype, we choose to focus on telephony in Teams in the future instead. Many of us at the university already use Teams to communicate, have digital meetings and collaborate, which makes the step to also make calls with Teams easier.

    Teams offers the same telephony functionality as Skype, but some things work differently. If you haven't used Teams before, it's a good idea to start using the app now. Here are instructions and information about teams that you can use.
