Time to nominate candidates for honorary doctorates

    Departments and centres at the Faculty of Science and Technology are invited to nominate candidates for honorary doctorates. Nominations must include a motivation and the deadline for nominations is Friday 28 April.

    Honorary doctors are promoted at the university's annual ceremony together with laureates and new professors.

    Appointing honorary doctors is a tradition at all Swedish universities and higher education institutions. An honorary doctorate is a way of recognising and rewarding outside individuals, academics or others, who have made a particularly significant contribution to research, education or other work developed at the university.

    All departments and centres now have the opportunity to propose honorary doctorates. Proposals must include a motivation and description of how the candidate has collaborated with or otherwise been of importance to Umeå University.

    Nominations must be submitted by e-mail to Susanne Vikström at the Faculty Office, susanne.vikstrom@umu.se, no later than Friday 28 April. Instructions can be found in the Rule for Appointment of Honorary Doctors, see the link below.
