You can now show your ORCID on your personal page

26 May 2023

Umeå University has joined ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID), which means that you can connect your Umu-id with an ORCID identifier. Your ORCID will then be displayed on your personal page on umu.se.

Open Researcher and Contributor ID – ORCID – is a unique identifier that distinguishes yourself from other researchers. The ID is persistent, meaning you will keep it throughout your career even if you change your name or workplace. In this way, an ORCID makes it easier for you to get recognition for your authorship in publications. ORCID is used in the application system Prisma and in the publication database DiVA.

How to set it up

To create a connection to your Umu-id, you must first register for an ORCID through orcid.org. Once you have your ORCID, you can connect it to your Umu-id through "My settings" (Mina inställningar). When the connection has been completed, your ORCID will be displayed on your personal page.

If you already have an ORCID, you can make the connection directly through "My settings".

Change the instructions to English in the top right corner of the "My settings" page. This page also allows you to change your general standard language setting for Umeå University communications in the "Language" tab.
