The current term of The Faculty Board ends on 30 June 2021. The new term is from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2025.
Appointment of the dean has been decided by the Nomination Committee to be made through a simplified procedure, in accordance with Regler för val till fakultetsnämnder, inklusive utseende av dekan och prodekan, för tiden 2021-07-01—2025-06-30. Simplified procedure refers to the reappointment of the current Dean Patrik Danielson for a second term, after the Heads of Departments, the Nomination Committee, and the Vice-Chancellor have expressed great confidence in him, and to which the Dean has been positive towards. The Vice-Chancellor decides on the appointment of the dean.
Concerning the reappointment of deputy dean, current deputy dean Marie Bixo has declined a reappointment for a new period. This means that for the appointment of the deputy dean, the ordinary nomination procedure for the processing of nomination and decisions on proposals will be applied. The Vice-Chancellor decides on the appointment of the deputy dean.
If you are employed at the Faculty of Medicine, you have the opportunity to submit proposals to the Nomination Committee for the deputy dean, six (6) scientifically qualified members (including deputies) and one external member (including deputy).
- Those nominated for deputy dean must be professors or senior lecturers with tenure at Umeå University.
- Those nominated as members of the Faculty Board shall be scientifically qualified teachers with tenure equivalent to at least 50 % of full-time at the faculty. Scientifically qualified refers to those with doctoral degree and a teacher refers to the person who has a position as a teacher in accordance with Anställningsordning för lärare vid Umeå universitet.
- The person nominated as an external member of The Faculty Board shall have broad experience from academia and/or private sector and society.
Please note that Heads of Departments, Deputy Heads of Departments, Associate Heads of Departments, Directors, and Deputy Directors of Research Centres cannot simultaneously hold position as a member of The Faculty Board.

Nominations will take place between 4-18 December. For more information, see the nomination form.
After the nomination period, the Nomination Committee shall consult all nominated candidates if they are available to be a member of The Faculty Board.
Eligible to vote in the 2021 elections must be scientifically qualified teachers with a tenured position equivalent to at least 50% of full-time in the faculty. "Scientific competence" means the person who has a doctoral degree and is employed as a teacher in accordance with Anställningsordning för lärare vid Umeå universitet.
The eligibility requirement of a scientifically qualified member is that the person must have tenured position equivalent to at least 50 % of full-time within the faculty. "Scientifically qualified" means the person has a doctoral degree.
The election of scientifically qualified members to the Faculty Board will take place during spring term 2021.
