Purchase language and translation services

All language and translation services purchased by the university must be purchased either through the inhouse translator or by the suppliers through a framework agreement. Currently, however, there is no such agreement.

Inhouse translation services

Inhousebyrån at the Communications Office offers translation services through an inhouse translator translating from Swedish to English and English to Swedish. Translations are performed when time allows.

Examples of text genres accepted, but not exclusively:
News items, press releases, websites, profile pages for umu.se, brochures, material for print, PowerPoint presentations, course and programme syllabi and policy documents.

Please note that the Communications Office does not offer translations or proof-reading of scientific articles or publications.

No current framework agreement for language services

The framework agreement administered by the Swedish Legal, Financial and Administrative Agency has expired. Hence, Umeå University has no agreement for the purchase of translation and language services.

How do I purchase translations or language services?

If you need to purchase translation or language services from an external provider during the period when no framework agreement has been met, please follow these instructions:

  • Estimate the extent of your need and describe it in a document that you save.
  • If you have a budget and the expected cost falls below SEK 50,000, you can purchase your desired service by making a direct award of contract.
  • Follow the recommendations on how to complete a direct award of contract (in Swedish). Or contact Purchase and Procurement on upphandling@umu.se for assistance.
  • If you have a budget and the expected cost exceeds SEK 50,000, you must contact upphandling@umu.se. Provide information on what service your wish to purchase to receive advice on how to proceed.
