Campus and premises

Umeå University has four campuses with the main campus being Campus Umeå. Umeå is also home to the Arts Campus. The regional campuses are Campus Skellefteå and Campus Örnsköldsvik.

Umeå University does not own any premises and instead rents them centrally. Our properties are mostly owned by Akademiska Hus, but we also rent from several other property owners, including Balticgruppen and Västerbotten County Council. The Building Office and the Service Office are responsible for ensuring that the premises are maintained, adapted and developed according to the university's needs.

Lecture theatres, auditoriums and conference rooms can be book using the university's general booking system, TimeEdit.

Creative environments stimulate dynamic meetings

The overriding objective in our local development is the university's goal of Vision 2020 - Creative environments stimulate dynamic meetings.

"The university is a dynamic meeting place where interdisciplinary knowledge is generated and disseminated. Creative environments attract students, researchers, teachers and collaborating partners nationally and internationally. We are one of Europe's leading universities with regard to innovative physical and virtual environments. A large part of our courses integrate campus and online teaching, and through flexible forms of teaching can be carried out regardless of time and space. This provides excellent opportunities for everyone to study, and puts a focus on lifelong learning."

Application for activities on campus

Prayer room

The university chapel is next to the Church on campus premises on the 1st floor of Naturvetarhuset. The chapel is open every day for quiet contemplation, prayer and respite, whatever your belief.

There is also a prayer room specifically for Muslims in corridor NC, on the 2nd floor of Naturvetarhuset. The door has a code lock. To obtain the code, please contact House services for Naturvetarhuset.

Building council

The building council is a forum for local issues. This is where matters are discussed relating to bookable rooms and communal areas. Premises rented by departments and offices are not discussed here. The building council is held twice per semester in all the buildings on Campus Umeå. The building council includes representatives from departments, property owners, cleaning, house services and the Building Office, as well as contractors and students. For more information, please contact Service Office.
