One-year research grant within Neuroscience (StratNeuro)

    Applications for a 1-year research grant are invited by the Faculty of Medicine at Umeå University, within the framework of the strategic initiative for research by the Swedish government. This call is based on funding granted Umeå University as a partner within "The Strategic Research Program in Neuroscience" at Karolinska Institutet (KI).

    Type of grant:
    1 grant of 600.000 SEK will be financed in 2023. Novel collaboration with KI or KTH scientists will be seen as a plus, but is not a prerequisite for getting funding. Grants may be prolonged for a second year if the project is positively assessed, mostly in terms of publication outcome and results obtained, by the original reviewers and StratNeuro UmUs board, and if the StratNeuro-program continues to receive governmental funding.

    Who can apply:
    Applications will be considered from persons with a PhD, who are employed by the medical faculty at Umeå University during 2023, and actively conducting research in basic or clinical neuroscience or neurobiology. Members of the Steering Committee cannot apply, neither can they appear as collaborators.

    Applications will be evaluated by 2 reviewers outside UmU, of which one outside Sweden. Equal weight will be given to novelty, significance, scientific stringency as well as qualifications of applicant. Novel collaboration with KI/KTH will be a plus. Outcome in Autumn, at latest in November 2023, so that money will be available by year end.

    • Short CV (max 2 pages A4), list of publications from the last 10 years (published in 2013 or later), list of the 5 most important publications irrespective of date.
