Report from University Board meeting

The first University Board meeting for 2017 was held on 20 February. The Board stipulated the budget figures for 2018–2020 and the 2016 annual report. The Board decided upon a revised model for operational planning and approving the University Management proposals for measures based upon audits by the Internal Audit Office.

The University Board stipulated the budget figures for 2018–2020. On 1 December 2016, the Government asked Swedish institutes of higher education to present their budgets for the period of 2018–2020, in accordance with specific directives. Apart from mandatory sections, the University is also making two requests for funds of particular strategical importance. Namely, SEK 20 million for a national centre for Arctic research and education, and an expansion of the Medical Programme with 40 full-time equivalents from 2018 through funds within first-cycle education and specific governmental funding for medical training and research. The University Board fixed the annual report for 2016. Each year, the University must present an annual report to the Government presenting the revenue statement, balance sheets, and present the balance of allocations and funds. This year's annual report shows that the finances in 2016 were in balance, the number of lecturers with doctoral degrees increased, the number of students increased, and external research grants also increased. The University Board approved the Management's revised model for operational planning on account of audits by the Internal Audit Office. This concerns the following two areas: compliance with rules for public procurement and the University IT business. Read more in Swedish

The University Board decided on a new process and model for operational planning, and gave the Vice-Chancellor the delegation to make additional decisions on revised interim objectives for the period of 2018–2020. Decisions on instructions for the budget for 2018 were also made. Read more in Swedish
