Call for TUA funding for research equipment 2024

The TUA committee has allocated SEK 700,000 for the purchase of research equipment that will support high-quality clinical dental research with clear patient or population benefit and relevance to health care.

Who can apply?
The main applicant must have a PhD and either
(A) hold a permanent position at the Department of Odontology, Umeå University, or
(B) hold a permanent position at the Specialist Dental Service or the General Dental Care Competence Centre, Region Västerbotten

Application
The application is made in the application system Researchweb and must be submitted no later than Thursday 30 May at 23:59.
The application must primarily describe the needs that exist over the next two years and it must be clearly stated what the research equipment is intended to be used for. Equipment that is useful for ongoing research projects and that can be used by several research groups is particularly prioritized.
The application must include
1) Which research groups support the purchase
2) Specification of the equipment including any peripherals and service agreement,
3) If the equipment benefits several research groups
4) Where the equipment is intended to be located and who is responsible for handling the equipment
5) Information about any co-funding
Please note that the cost of the equipment must exceed one price base amount (SEK 57,300 in 2024).

Assessment of applications
Applications received will be assessed by a designated review team within the TUA.

Decision
The TUA Committee will decide on the award on 17 June 2024. In order to allocate approved grants, approved ethical review by the Ethical Review Authority/Regional Ethical Review Board is required, unless it is clearly unnecessary.
