Five students from Umeå University take part in an Erasmus programme in Paris. Three of the students were in the area where the attacks on Friday took place.
"We are relieved to find out that all our students are safe," says Gregory Neely, Head of Division at International Office.

French exchange students at Umeå University made an initiative to a ceremony on campus on Sunday. Around a hundred people joined the ceremony where candles were lit around the campus fountain in commemoration of the victims in the gruesome attacks.

On Monday, Umeå University and several other universities in Sweden observed a minute of silence on account of the terrorist attacks in Paris, but also in Beirut and other places around the world.
