Review test version of new staff directory

    To rectify long page load time and poor performance with the current staff directory on the web, the Communications Office and ITS are developing a whole new solution. You can now take a look and submit your comments on the test version.

    What implications does a new staff directory have on me?

    In the new staff directory, all employees will have a personal page. This page allows employees to add and edit certain features such as their own portrait photo and personal presentations in Swedish and English, as well as control their list of publications.

    The Swedish address to the personal page will also be easier to use on for instance a business card according to this model: www.umu.se/personal/firstname-surname. The equivalent link to the English version will be www.umu.se/en/staff/firstname-surname.

    As the staff directory involves all employees at the University, the simplified test version is made available for you to check out and share your views on: https://www.umu.en/staff

    "The test version is not yet published through our existing external web, umu.se, neither is it accessible through Google. The only way of accessing it is via the link," says Olof Malmberg at the Communications Office.

    The aim of the test version is:

    • to inform employees of the changes and improvements the new staff directory will result in
    • to collect information on potential mistakes in the contact details currently shown
    • to inform employees of what they can and must do to their personal pages
    • to collect input on improvements and bug fixes.

    "If everything goes according to plan, the new staff directory will be launched before Christmas," says Olof Malmberg.
