The salary review process continues – salary discussions next

22 August 2022

The University's salary review process is currently following the time plan for 2022, established in consultation with trade unions.

The next step in the process is employer deliberations with trade unions, salary discussions and salary-setting discussions between managers and employees, and salary negotiations between managers and trade unions which will take place between 28 October and 2 December.

Individual salary setting applies at Umeå University (with the exception of doctoral students and teaching assistants) and agreements do not offer any individual guaranteed levels.

All new salaries will be paid out from January 2023, but payments will be backdated from 1 October 2022.

Staff who are not members of a trade union, or members of a trade union without a collective agreement, will have their salaries set according to Umeå University's salary principles and procedures, and will be handled in parallel with other categories.

Docent salary supplement

Employees who are appointed as docent during an ongoing salary review period will receive their docent salary supplement after the salary review period is completed.

Doctoral students and teaching assistants

Doctoral students' and teaching assistants' salary levels follow what is stipulated in the respective agreement. Before the summer holidays, Umeå University and the trade unions initiated negotiations over new salary levels. These negotiations are resumed in August. Further information about the results will be announced in due course.
