Chris Dobson was an internationally significant researcher and mentor. He leaves a great imprint in science, both through his own research with more than 800 published articles and through other researchers whom he has supervised or inspired to conduct research on protein folding and diseases related to this. This has not least been about Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, where Umeå today stands strong, largely thanks to the guidance and inspiration of Chris Dobson who had a long and close relationship with Umeå University.

Chris Dobson himself got the diagnosis pancreatic cancer earlier this year. He was into the last active and encouraged research colleagues, although he clearly understood where it was going. Chris Dobson left us at the age of 69.
