University Liaison Building becomes University Management Building

30 August 2018

The University Liaison Building, is changing name to the University Management Building, after a vote in the University Administration. The change of name will take effect around the turn of the year and is due to confusions between two Swedish building names and unhappiness with the English name.

University Liaison Building turns into University Management Building from turn of the year 2018/19.

In June, the University Management decided on a new name for Samverkanshuset (the University Liaison Building). The new name is Universitetsledningshuset, translated with the University Management Building. The name change decision took place after collecting name suggestions and voting for them in the University Administration, and after referral to the Language Council.

One of the reasons behind the change of names was the confusion among visitors and students between Samhällsvetarhuset (Social Sciences Building) and Samverkanshuset (University Liaison Building), and the buildings' abbreviations. Also, the use of liaison in the original translation caused unwanted connotations.

The new name will not come into effect until new signposting has been completed, which is planned for the turn of the year 2018/19. Until then, the original names, Samverkanshuset and the University Liaison Building, should be used. More information about when the name change will take effect will be published on Aurora.

The building houses the Vice-Chancellor's Office, the Planning Office, the External Relations Office, the Communications Office, Postal Services and Transport, Public Procurement and Purchase, and the Ethical Review Board.
