Update Zoom to version 5.0 or later version

Zoom has previously launched version 5.0 with added security features and new functionality. In order to continue using Zoom after 30 May, you need to use version 5.0 or a later version. For those who have a client management agreement, Zoom will be updated automatically. Others need to make a manual update.

This spring, Zoom has made a number of safety improvements to their software as well as introduced some new features. A while ago, version 5.0 was launched with better encryption and a new functionality that makes it easier for hosts to maintain secure meetings. From 1 June 2020, version 5.0 will be a mandatory update for all users.

What you need to do

In order to use Zoom after 30 May, you need to update your Zoom client to version 5.0 or a later version.

Client management

For departments and offices with a client management agreement with ITS, i.e. Software center for PC or JAMF for MAC, Zoom updates will take place automatically. Contact your head of department or equivalent to find out if you have client management.

No client management? Update Zoom manually

  1. Check what version of Zoom you have installed by opening the software on your computer.
  2. Click the picture to the right and choose "Check for Updates" in the menu.
  3. Check that you have version 5.0 or a later version. If not, go to this link https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360043555772 and follow the instructions to update your Zoom client.
