Four calls for applications within Internationalisation. Apply no later than 2018-10-01.

I. Apply for grant for an international stay during doctoral studies

This call is directed towards doctoral candidates to encourage them to an academic visit, at a university abroad (≥3 weeks) during their doctoral studies. The aim is for the candidate to gain experience, from an international research milieu, which is assessed to be beneficial in the candidate's dissertation, and to increase interest and opportunities at a later date for a post-doc opportunity abroad.

Supervisors support is a requirement and a pass in 50 % seminar is meritorious.

The grant of up to 25 000 SEK can be applied for towards costs incurred during the stay abroad, for example. flight tickets, boarding (salary excluded). The grant can be combined with other financial support, including travel grant.
Application of maximum of 1 A4 page (Georgia font 10) should include the following: Applicant doctoral candidates name, personnummer, department, email/mobile, international academic institution and the contact person, a description of planned activities at the institution and how the activities are expected to benefit the dissertation, budget details (including any co-financing) as well as written approval of Supervisor and Prefekt.

Application is submitted to gunilla.marald@umu.se latest by 2018-10-01, expected response by 2018-11-15 and the funding can be utilized by 2019-12-31. International-stay report, including an accounting of the finances is to be submitted to the Council for Doctoral Research (RUF) within 1 month of return. Doctoral candidate will be expected to share their experiences with others within the faculty.

II. Apply for grant for a post-doc to prepare an international stay

This call is directed towards doctoral candidates to visit a university abroad in order to prepare for a post-doc stay at a later date.

Supervisors support and pass in 50 % seminar is obligatory.

Grant of up to 15 000 can be applied for, covering flight and boarding costs. Grant can be combined with other financial support, including travel grant.
Application of maximum of 1 A4 page (Georgia font 10) should include the following: Applicant doctoral candidates name, personnummer, department, email/mobile, international academic institution name and the name of the contact person, a description of research environment and a motivation letter addressing why you are interested in working as post-doc, budget details (including any co-financing) as well as written approval of Supervisor and Prefekt.

III. Apply for grants to develop courses/moments in English

This call is directed towards teachers to develop courses/moments in English within the faculties study programmes. The effort could be comprised of internal development, as well as in cooperation with an international institution.Grant of up to 30 000 SEK can be applied for. Co-financing from Program Council and/or the department is beneficial.

Application of maximum of 1 A4 page (Georgia font 10) should comprise of the following: Teachers name, unit/department, email/mobile, description of development work, budget (including any co-financing) as well as written approval of Supervisor and Prefekt.

Application is submitted to henna.harinen@umu.se latest by 2018-10-01, application response by 2018-11-15 and the funding can be utilized by 2019-12-31. A short report, including an accounting of the finances is to be submitted to the Council for Internationalisation of Education (RIU) upon conclusion of the project, but no later than 2020-03-31. The teacher are expected to share their experiences with others within the faculty.

IV. Apply for grants to establish good relations with international institutions for staff and student exchange

This call is directed towards teachers and other staff for activities that can contribute towards establishing good relations with current and potential partner institutions, with regards to student and staff mobility. Grant can be approved for travel for incoming and outgoing staff that have been adjudged to have a key role in a well-functioning and high-quality cooperation.

Grant of up to 20 000 SEK can be applied for. Co-financing from Program Council and/or the department is beneficial.

Application of maximum of 1 A4 page (Georgia font 10) should comprise of the following: Applicant teachers name, unit/department, email/mobile, international academic institution name and the name of the contact person, a description of planned activities budget (including any co-financing) as well as written approval of Supervisor and Prefekt/ Chair of the Program Council.
