Funding for conferences for 2020

Umeå municipality, Region Västerbotten and Umeå University annually sets aside funding for conferences. Contributions to conferences at Umeå University are provided through co-funding of social events in conjunction with the conference, e.g. a conference dinner or reception. The funding provided is aimed to be used to market Umeå University and Umeå as a town.

Only conferences held in Umeå can be granted funding. The allocated funding cannot cover travel costs, subsistence allowances, expenses connected with renting premises or speakers' fees.

Please note! Conference funding is only granted once and is not intended for annual gatherings aimed at the same target audience.

The financial contribution that can be applied for should be based on the number of people and sums per person according to the following: Maximum amount is SEK 50,000.

National conferences – SEK 175 per person

Nordic conferences – SEK 200 per person

International conferences – SEK 250 per person

Attach the programme of the planned activity including a budget.

After completion of the event, the number of participants must be reported without delay to the Planning Office, karina.sandstrom@umu.se. If the event is cancelled, this must also be reported.

Email the application to the registry at medel@diarie.umu.se or post the application to Registrator, Universitetsförvaltningen, Umeå University, SE-901 87 Umeå. Specify the registration number FS 2.1.6-2072-19 in the application (in an email application, please also provide the registration number in the subject field). The application must have reached the registrar no later than Friday 10 January 2020. If there is funding left after allocation of incoming applications after this date, applications may be submitted at any time in the year.
