Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg’s Memorial Fund

3 October 2023

Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg's Memorial Fund calls for project grants. Information about the application process within the Faculty of Science and Technology can be found below. The deadline for applications is 9 November.

The foundation primarily supports projects within the humanities and learning.

A project must have an independent objective and not only constitute additional funding for ongoing activities or other projects that have already started.

The main applicant must have a permanent position at a Swedish university and spend at least 70 percent of their employment and working time in Sweden. Co-applicants must spend at least 50 percent of their employment and working time in Sweden.

An individual researcher can only participate in two ongoing projects, of which a maximum of one is as principal applicant. A project can at most be evaluated for funding on two separate application occasions.

A project normally has a budget in the range from 1 to 5 million SEK with a duration from three to five years.

Application process

The pre-application consists of a form that should be filled out by the applicant:

Internal application form

In addition to the application form, a letter from the head of department for each applicant must be attached, stating support for the application and thus responsibility for any co-financing.

The application should be sent no later than 9 November 2023 to the faculty's research coordinator: robert.johansson@umu.se

Nomination process

Each faculty prepares their proposals, and the dean of the faculty decides which projects that will be allowed to submit their application to the Research Support and Collaboration Office. This is followed by a continued preparation of the application and budget at the university before the deadline for submission on 1 April 2024.

More information about the call can be found on the foundation's website.
