The Education Committee is issuing a second call for funds for 2024 for conference participation and internationalisation and collaboration cheques. In total, the call comprises SEK 494,000. The deadline for applications is 12 August.
The calls are aimed at employees at Umeå University who teach courses or programmes at the Faculty of Science and Technology.
The purpose of the conference funds is for the applicant to participate in a conference to improve, be inspired and network to strengthen the faculty's programmes.
The grants can be used for:
- participation in pedagogical conferences/workshops/seminars,
- participation in research conferences, only for those who have a large proportion of teaching (max 25 per cent research) in their employment.
The purpose of the internationalisation cheques is to strengthen and inspire internationalisation in education at pre-, first or second-cycle levels. Funding is primarily given to those who wish to participate in a teachers exchange, develop courses or create exchange agreements in cooperation with foreign higher education institutions.
The collaboration cheques are intended to support teaching staff to spend a limited period at an external workplace, outside the higher education sector, where the experiences and lessons learned from the stay will benefit the faculty's programmes at pre-, first- and second levels.
According to Umeå University's Environmental Policy (FS 1.1-2187-19), "each employee shall ensure that travel, domestic or international, is primarily by public transport and shall plan and carry out their business travel as efficiently, economically, environmentally friendly and traffic-safe as possible".
When allocating funds, the Education Committee will therefore prioritise stays that involve shorter trips within Sweden or the rest of Europe rather than long-distance trips outside Europe.
