Book autumn’s premises focusing on students on their first and final semesters

3 June 2020

The University is opening again in August. But although the University is soon to open, it must still adhere to the prohibition of social gatherings. This means a definite maximum of 49 persons for groups, and each person must be positioned 1.5 metres apart in halls, labs and other premises.

To meet the extended needs for premises that this will result in, there will be an option of registering interest in finding premises outside of campus either by contacting Infocenter or through the booking service TimeEdit.

The descriptions in TimeEdit of each campus room are updated with details on how many people each room can safely take with regards to the COVID-19 guidelines. Departments and offices are responsible for adapting their own meeting rooms, labs, office spaces and other premises according to the guidelines.

If the University's premises will not be sufficient this autumn, if there are not enough appropriate rooms available when booking that is, please notify Infocenter so that other external premises can be offered if needed. It is also good to spread out bookings over the course of the day. Students on their first and last semesters must be prioritised for campus premises.

Cancellations of bookings of joint university premises are free of charge if the cancellation takes place before 30 August. This goes for bookings for the period of 31 August until 31 December. From 1 September, ordinary terms and conditions apply, which means you can cancel a booking two days before the booking is due to take place, failure to cancel on time means the full cost will be charged.

If you have any further questions, please contact Infocenter

Please consider this when adapting your lecture halls

  • Group sizes should be limited as much as possible regardless of lecture halls or rooms, and an absolute limit is 49 persons.
  • Participants must be at least 1.5 metres apart in lecture halls, labs and other premises.
  • There must be 1–2 empty seats between each person in auditoriums and equivalent in other rooms depending on furnishing.
  • Also remember to keep a distance when entering and exiting premises and houses.
  • For students with hearing difficulties, portable hearing loops and other aids can be booked at Infocenter.

Adaptations must also be made in lunchrooms and other spaces where employees meet.

If you need tape, labels, signs or other assistance, please contact Infocenter and they will notify the service assistant responsible for your building.

Public spaces on campus

Public spaces such as the Umeå University Library and public seating areas will also be adapted and signposted to adhere to the Public Health Agency of Sweden's recommendation on social distancing. These spaces will also be prioritised for cleaning.
